​   When designing the art for The Hungriest Chickadee, I originally painted a dozen (or so) chickadees in different poses, then created the backgrounds of the pages separately and merged them together on the computer. For me, being able to move things around freely is a very helpful tool in designing a page layout. A few of the original chickadee paintings (with different backgrounds) from The Hungriest Chickadee are available for purchase; all are framed.
